What a Week for Trips and Visits

It has been a really busy week for trips and visits, with pupils and students enjoying some fantastic opportunities and experiences.

  • Monday saw a group of our A-Level History students enjoy a visit to the Tower of London to support their studies of Tudor times.

  • On Tuesday some of our Year 11, 12 & 13 pupils and students visited the British Museum and the National Gallery respectively as part of their Art GCSE/A-Level.

  • Some of our Key Stage 4 pupils had the opportunity to visit the East London Mosque on Wednesday to support their GCSE Religious Education course.

  • On Thursday, pupils from our Resource Base for Deaf Pupils participated in the Xtend Multi Skills Panathalon, where they enjoyed taking part in a number of different sports and activities.

Please keep up-to-date by visiting our “” where you will see further details on all the latest exciting events.

Parking in the School Bus Bay

As I have raised previously, we have recently had some concerning reports of inconsiderate parking and/or driving around the school site. Most concerning are incidents of “near misses” in the busy bay on Sir Walter Raleigh Drive. This is a very busy area of the school site both at the beginning and end of the day with buses dropping off and collecting our pupils and students.

In order to ensure the safety of our pupils and students we have taken the decision to politely request that parents/carers do not park in the bus bay area between 8.15 am – 8.45 am and 2.45pm – 3.15pm.

We hope that by keeping the area free of cars, it will be much less congested meaning that pupils and students can board and alight the buses safely.

Can I also ask that if you choose to park along Sir Walter Raleigh Drive, you do so with care and consideration for our neighbours and for the environment.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.

Snow Closure

Given the current cold spell and the constantly changing weather forecast, I wanted to remind you, once again, of the arrangements in the unlikely event of snow falling leading to any necessary school closure. We will always make every effort to keep the school open but do have to consider the safety of both pupils and staff, many of whom travel from a distance away.

Should there be a need to close, we will aim to post this on the school website by 7.45am, at the latest (remember to click the ‘refresh’ button to ensure accessing the latest information).

Local radio stations no longer broadcast this information, but this will also be published on the Essex County website: or simply just search for Essex County Council Emergency School Closures.

One of the positive takeaways from COVID is that, in the event of a snow closure, teachers are prepared to revert to remote learning.

And Finally....

Hoping you have a lovely weekend.

What do you do when you're not in school?

We would love to hear about your hobbies, interests and achievements...

They had a very difficult match and worked so well and got a 2-1 winning result!

The following girls played:
Mollie P, Elsie N, Kitty C, Emily A, Mia, Ivy D, Sophie M, Flo B , Darcy C, Darcy, Isabella B, Evie W, Isabelle W, Nina Y, Vivian Y, Faith M , Gemma G and Paige T.
